Emancipation Development Initiative (EDI) is a non-profit organisation building structured pathways that turn practical skills into measurable income — with deliberate focus on inclusion.
“We do not build programs that end.
We build systems that continue.”
— Emancipation Development Initiative
We exist to reduce barriers to decent work and economic participation through structured skills development and livelihood pathways.
Enable dignified, sustainable livelihoods by building practical capabilities and linking training to real economic participation.
Underserved youth, women, persons with disabilities, and others facing barriers to skills, work, and income.
We prioritise structure: training pipelines, partnerships, and measurable outcomes over vague “empowerment” language.
Three practical pillars. Keep these stable.
Vocational and employability training designed for competence, not attendance.
Support for job access, micro-enterprise readiness, and income sustainability.
Practical inclusion: accessible delivery, community engagement, and advocacy where needed.
Participants are identified and screened based on readiness, commitment, and baseline capability.
Structured learning with defined competency milestones and practical outputs.
Participants transition into income pathways including employment, enterprise, or project-based work.
Outcomes are monitored through income generation, job placement, and sustained participation.

EDI is overseen by a Board and managed day-to-day by the Executive Director, with clear role separation and documented controls.
Income and property are applied solely to EDI’s objects. Directors are not paid profits; only reasonable remuneration for services and expenses.
